In addition to ongoing programs and services, The Port Ministries hosts various unique community projects that aim to educate, inspire, engage and empower participants of all ages. Co-hosted inaugural COMMUNITY HEALING FAIR with District 6 Rep. Sonya Harper to provide holistic mental health resources to local community members. Over 150 community members were in attendance.

Hosted EVERYBODY HAS A STORY, a series of weekly storytelling workshops throughout the summer for all ages that inspired an indoor mural by young people from Richard’s Academy. EVERYBODY HAS A STORY culminated with a performance and mural reveal celebration with over 60 residents in attendance.

Hosted DIA DE LAS MUJERES Fashion and Art Show. A unique “Day of the Dead” inspired celebration produced a series of weekly visual art workshops throughout the summer for all ages. Each workshop and lead artist created clothing that became the canvas to paint on and display. DIA DE LAS MUJERES culminated with an event that presented the fashion art work and showcased various performance arts representing the community. Over 200 community members were in attendance.
